Winter Escapes in Queenscliff: A Fireside Weekend at Sagres
Winter in Queenscliff is an invitation to slow down: a walk beside the bay, a long lunch and an evening by the fire. At Sagres, five bedrooms sleep up to 10 guests, making a coastal weekend easy to share with family or friends.

A beach house made for cooler days
Start with coffee and a view of Port Phillip Bay. Follow the private walking track to Nuns Beach when the weather suits, then return to the living room fireplace. The kitchen and dining spaces make it easy to cook together and stay in for the evening.
The European sauna and heated-floor wellness studio offer another way to unwind between outings. Use the studio for stretching or free weights, or ask about private yoga and in-house massage. These sessions cost extra and need to be arranged in advance, subject to availability. Explore the sauna and wellness studio.
Your suggested winter weekend
Friday: arrive and settle in
Check-in is from 3:30 pm. Unpack, choose your rooms and keep the first evening simple with dinner at home. If you would prefer to eat out, book ahead using our Queenscliff dining guide.
Saturday: fresh air, a long lunch and the sauna
Take a short beach walk if conditions are suitable, or spend the morning browsing the village. Choose one lunch destination rather than filling the day with stops. Our Geelong and Bellarine winery guide can help you plan; confirm winter opening hours and arrange transport before tasting. Leave the afternoon free for the sauna, a book or a fireside catch-up.
Sunday: a slow breakfast before the journey home
Enjoy breakfast together and pack before the 10 am checkout. If you have time after leaving the house, make a final stop in Queenscliff or Point Lonsdale. Travelling towards the Mornington Peninsula? Read our Sorrento–Queenscliff ferry guide and check the operator’s latest timetable.
What to know before booking
Pool heating is seasonal. The mineral pool is heated to 28°C from October to April. Winter bookings should not expect a heated swimming pool.
Plan your rooms. Sagres has two king bedrooms with ensuites on the top floor and three queen bedrooms on the ground floor. Stairs connect all three levels. See the family and group accommodation guide for sleeping arrangements and practical FAQs.
Pack for the coast. Bring warm layers, a waterproof jacket and shoes for walking. Keep outdoor plans flexible around wind, rain and tides, and check venues directly for seasonal hours.
